No CV handy? Start from a templateWhat we check
- Text a reader can extract. Real, selectable text, not a scan or a picture of a page.
- Reading order. One thought per line, with no side blocks read straight across the page.
- Sections it can find. Plain headings for experience, education and skills.
- Name and contact. Your name and an email as text near the top.
- Dates on roles. A start and end for each role, so your career can be placed in time.
- Results with numbers. Figures in your lines, which are what an assistant quotes.
- Length. Two pages or fewer, with the strongest material first.
Common questions
Does my CV get uploaded?
No. The PDF or the text you paste is read in your browser and checked on your device. We do not receive the file or its text. If you choose to build your CV here afterwards, a copy waits in this browser until you do.
Can I check my CV without the PDF?
Yes. Paste the text of your CV, or your LinkedIn About and experience, and the same checks run on it. Text extraction and reading order are questions about a PDF file, so they are skipped for pasted text and left out of the score.
What does the score mean?
It measures how readable the file is to software: whether the text comes out, in the right order, with clear sections, dates and results. It says nothing about how good your career is, and it does not predict any one recruiter's system.
What is the text under "What an AI sees"?
It is the text pulled out of your PDF, row by row. Many assistants and hiring tools read a CV this way, so a column that looks tidy on the page can come out as one jumbled line.
Is the check free?
Yes, with no account. Building and exporting a CV on StayHireable is free too, and a new account also gets 7 days of every premium feature, with no card.
